Spending Christmas At University

Your university accommodation is like your second home. So why not make it feel like any home would during the festive period? It can be difficult to be away from your family especially during the holidays. But if you can’t be with them for Christmas, bring the festive period to you and your university accommodation. Here are some things you can do to get into the Christmas spirit at university.

Put Up A Christmas Tree

There is nothing more festive than a Christmas tree! When the tree goes up you know it’s officially Christmas. It doesn’t have to be a big tree either, just whatever will fit or whatever you can afford. So put on some Christmas music and get yourself in the mood. Don’t forget to decorate the tree with some ornaments and lights. Maybe even put some presents under it for your flatmates!

Decorate Your Flat

A Christmas tree is not the only thing you can decorate. Why not spruce up your flat to help you get into the festive mood? It’s a great way for you and your housemates to spend some time with each other before the Christmas break. You could even tap into your creative side and make some of your own decorations!

Have A Christmas Dinner

Christmas dinner
Whether you have an early dinner because you are going home for Christmas or you are staying in your flat, why not have a Christmas dinner? Bring all your university friends together before everyone leaves for the holidays or bring everyone together who will be spending Christmas away from their families. Pop to your local supermarket to get some supplies and then get cooking. If you are not a fan of a traditional Christmas dinner, make something you and your guest will enjoy. After all, it’s just a great excuse to come together and spend some time with friends during the most wonderful time of the year.

See The Christmas Lights

We love the Coventry Christmas lights. On darker evenings walking through the city centre, they look so magical. Have a wander around the city centre to see all of this year’s Christmas lights. We would recommend seeing the lights in Broadgate over the row of restaurants. They’re beautiful!

If you are looking to visit somewhere outside the city centre, head over to Coombe Abbey to see the Luminate light trail. This is a great place for some new Instagram snaps!

Go Ice Skating

Christmas Ice Skating
Have you seen the massive ice skating rink in Coventry this year? Coventry’s gorgeous winter wonderland is home to a Christmas ice skating rink, situated in Broadgate. Opposite the rink is a row of lit-up restaurants that you can pop over to for a drink and some food after your skate. There is also a festive market open near the ice skating rink if you want to have a wander and brave the cold weather. This is a great activity to do with friends, or with family who are visiting you at uni. The ice rink is open until Sunday 8th January.
